Lesson Plans for Grade 6
Weekly Reminders:
These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork:      
A. All classwork/homework must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If an assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Tuesdays and Fridays for gym unless students are told differently.

F. Monday, November 27, 2017- 12:00 Dismissal due to a Faculty Meeting

G. December calendars will be distributed on Monday.

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 6
There will be a Unit 1 Test next week. All vocabulary words and notes should be studied. There will also be a Performance Assessment for Unit 1. It will be explained this week in class. Small Group Projects will be presented on Wednesday. Please send your project to Google Classroom. I opened an assignment for it.


For Unit 2, the 6th grade will be reading The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, Dover Publications, 3/24/2000. Please start reading the book as soon as you get it (at least 30 minutes every day).

Homework for this week will be assigned during class.

Unit 6 A Growing America- 1850-1914 – Chapter 18: Americans Move West

Monday 11/27- Write new vocabulary words and their definitions in your vocabulary notebook, or in the section of your notebook where you keep your vocabulary words. Due Wednesday, 11/29

Tuesday 11/28- Read pages 600-605. On page 605, answer questions 1b, 2a, 2b, 3b. Restate the question in the answer and make sure you have a full heading, including Social Studies, your number, and the page number on your looseleaf. Due Friday,12/1.

G. Canned Food Drive- last day to send in cans is Monday, 11/20. Thank you to all students and parents that contributed cans for the St. Patrick Home’s Outreach Program for the poor.

H. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held next Tuesday, 11/21 from 2:00-8:00. If you need to speak to any of the teachers concerning your child, please feel free to come during those hours. Also, please bring the Report Card with you.

F. Mickey & Minnie Mouse Birthday Celebration-Friday November 17, 2017. Students may dress up as Mickey or Minnie Mouse for the day. There will be a costume contest at 2:00 PM for Grades 1-8 in the lunchroom. Parents are welcome to attend.

G. Canned Food Drive- Please send in as many canned foods as possible this week. Our school is collecting cans for the outreach program of St. Patrick’s Nursing Home in the Bronx. Cans will only be collected until Tuesday, 11/21.

H. Report Cards will be distributed next Monday, 11/20. There will be an Assembly at 2:15 in the lunchroom. Father Antonio will distribute Report Cards and Honor Certificates. Parents are welcome to attend.

I. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held next Tuesday, 11/21 from 2:00-8:00. If you need to speak to any of the teachers concerning your child, please feel free to come during those hours. Also, please bring the Report Card with you.

F. Individual Picture Day tomorrow, November 7. Money is due today, Monday, to Mrs. Resto. If your child is having his/her picture taken, they can dress up (no jeans or sneakers) or wear uniforms. All students not taking pictures should be in Gym Uniforms.

G. No school on Friday, November 10 in honor of Veteran’s Day.
