Week of September 24, 2012


Reminders:


 1. These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork:
       A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

       B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of
paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable.
   
      C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a note
           from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW.
           This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home or you were sick.

      D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

       E. Remember to cover the Reading Workbook.

2. Tuesday is Gym for the 5th Grade. Remember to wear Gym uniform.

3. No school Friday, 9/29 due to a Teacher’s Conference!

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!
     
There will be a weekly quiz on Friday in Reading and on Monday in Social Studies! It will be based on what is done in class that week.

5th Grade Reading- 9/24/12


Homework:

Monday- Write the Vocabulary words and definitions below in your Reading Vocabulary NB. Due Tuesday.


Tuesday- Read Chapters 1 and 2 in Thomas Edison.

Answer the following questions on LL.- Due on Thursday, 9/27

1. Where and when was Thomas Edison born?

2. When Al was 7, where did he move to and what kind of work did his dad do there?

3. Why do you think Al seemed like he didn’t pay attention in school after he recovered from Scarlet Fever?

Wednesday- study for quiz tomorrow. Remember that Tuesday’s HW is due tomorrow!

Tuesday: read Chapter 4 of Peter Pan. Answer the following questions on looseleaf. Remember to put a heading on your LL. Due Thursday, 9/27

1. How did Peter feed Wendy and her brothers on their way to Neverland?

2. Explained how they played “Follow my Leader”.

3. How did the children know that they had finally reached Neverland? What are some things that Peter pointed out to them from above?

1. Why do you think the steward dislikes Crispin so much?

2. Why do you think John Aycliffe summoned the people of the manor to the church?

3.  After everyone left the church, what did Crispin decide to do?

On pg. 41  Complete the vocabulary review 1-10. Write everything out and follow the directions in the text.

Also complete the Chapter Checkup Questions #s 1, 3, and 4.

Complete on looseleaf and write the question, skip a line and write the answer.
Make sure to have a heading on your looseleaf.

Due on Thursday, 9/27

**There will be a test on Monday –Chapter 2! (Study the text, CW notebook, and Vocabulary notebook (words 1-30) on things that we have covered in this chapter.)
