Week of June 3, 2019


Weekly Reminders:
GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. Remember all students are to come to the church in the morning for Prayers. Anyone that does not arrive before the Pledge of Allegiance will be marked late or absent.

C. June calendars will be distributed today. Also, if you have not signed your child’s Progress Report, please sign it and return it by tomorrow. I will return it as soon as I check the signature.

D. Tuesday, 6/4 Archdiocesan Religion Exam. Make sure your child has pencils for the exam.

E. Wednesday, 6/5 NYS Science Exam. Make sure your child has pencils for the exam.
Also, the Uniform Company will be here today from 2:00-4:00. Please read Mr. Wood’s blog for details.

F. Friday, 6/7 there will be a 12:00 dismissal due to a Faculty Meeting. The ASP will be in session.

GRADES 5, 6, 7, 8  
A. All classwork/homework must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted and no pencil).  Please bring a highlighter and red pen to class each day.

B. Please make sure that you have loose-leaf and a pen every day. Paper cannot be ripped out of a notebook.

C. Remember homework counts as part of the total grade!

D. Please read the school blog for many important events this week.

Unit 3 The Thirteen Colonies/ Chapter 7: The Southern Colonies

Tuesday, 5/27: Please copy Chapter 7 notes listed on the blog into the Social Studies notebook. Also, read pages 252-273 in your textbook. This will help you to understand the notes better. Notes are due Thursday, June 6.

There will be a test next week on the notes for Chapter 7.

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 6:

Monday, 6/3: Esperanza’s Rising- please read pages 81-157 (about 10 pages per day!). Please read every day and do not fall behind. We will be having another quiz on this reading next week sometime. Remember to circle any unknown words and annotate (take short notes about characters, important events, setting) either using sticky notes or a small notebook. Write the page number and lines that you are annotating. This will be discussed more in class.  
There will be a quiz on pages 81-157 on Thursday, 6/6.
