Week of November 2, 2015

Reminders:

These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork: 

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Please cover all textbooks and workbooks. A clear plastic cover is suggested.

F. Gym uniforms must be worn by 5th graders on Wednesdays for gym.

G. Students in the 5th grade will have extended day classes each Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 for Math. 

H. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.

I. There will be a 12:00 Dismissal on Friday, November 6 due to a Faculty Meeting.

J. Please check your child’s folder for the November calendar.

K. Module 2 will begin next week. Please see the book(s) below that your child must purchase.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

HOMEWORK: For the Week of November 2- Module 1 Week 8

Homework for Grade 5:

All of Module 1 vocabulary words should be written on index cards, so you may start studying for the Module 1 test next week. The vocabulary word should be printed on the front of the card and definition on the back. It should read Module 1 Unit 2 in small print on the bottom of the card.  

Read pgs. 234- the end of the book in Esperanza's Rising.

Reading Vocabulary for the week will be listed in the Reading Vocabulary notebook.

Review all vocabulary words and your book for Module 1 Test next week.

The 5th-grade students must purchase two books for Module 2. I am sorry about this, but this is what the state has recommended. The books are as follows:

1. Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom, Super Scientist by Donald B. Lemke - $8.50
2. The Boy Who Invented TV: The Story of Philo Farnsworth by Kathleen Krull $8.00.

You may purchase/order this books yourself (you might find it cheaper) or I can order it for you.
If you would like me to order the book, the money is due no later than Thursday, 11/5 because the Module starts next Monday. Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it. The total due is $16.50.
If you are purchasing the book yourself, please make sure that your child has it next week.

7th Grade Social Studies
* If you signed up for Saturday classes at All Hallows, remember the classes begin this Saturday from 9:00-11:45. The dates of the classes are 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19. If there are any changes in the schedule, the school will let you know.

Chapter 2 Review pages 65-67. On page 65, answer questions 1-6 (write whole statement and answer), 7b, 8b, 10a, 11a (restate). Complete on looseleaf (full heading). Due Thursday, 11/05 (you may complete this work while I am at the workshop on Tuesday).

Map of the Month “The Explorers” is due Friday, November 13.
