Week of November 9, 2015

Reminders:

These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork: 

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Please cover all textbooks and workbooks. A clear plastic cover is suggested.

F. Gym uniforms must be worn by 5th graders on Wednesdays for gym.

G. Students in the 5th grade will have extended day classes each Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 for Math. 

H. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.

I. Class pictures will be taken on Friday, 11/13. All students are to be in full uniform (no regular clothes or gym uniforms).

J. Testing Schedule for Module I Exams:
Tuesday, 11/10- Math and Social Studies
Thursday- 11/12- Religion and Science
Friday- 11/13- Reading and ELA

K. No school on Wednesday, 11/11- Veterans Day

L. Module 2 will begin next week. Please see the book(s) below that your child must purchase.

M. Remember to send in canned food for the people in the Nursing Home.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

HOMEWORK: For the Week of November 9- Module 1 Week 9

Homework for Grade 5:

All of Module 1 vocabulary words should be written on index cards, so you may start studying for the Module 1 test this week. The vocabulary word should be printed on the front of the card and definition on the back. It should read Module 1 in small print on the bottom of the card. The cards will be checked this week. Please make sure that they are in a Ziploc bag or they will not be accepted.


Make sure that you have finished reading the book Esperanza’s Rising and know details from the book for the test on Friday.

Reading Vocabulary for the week will be listed in the Reading Vocabulary notebook.

Monday 11/2- Complete 2 pages dealing with Chapter Four given in class today.
Make sure that you have finished reading the book and know details from the book for the test on Friday.

Review all vocabulary words and your book for Module 1 Test Friday.

The 5th grade students must purchase two books for Module 2. I am sorry about this, but this is what the state has recommended. The books are as follows:
1. Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom, Super Scientist by Donald B. Lemke - $8.50
2. The Boy Who Invented TV: The Story of Philo Farnsworth by Kathleen Krull $8.00.

You may purchase/order this books yourself (you might find it cheaper) or I can order it for you.
If you would like me to order the book, the money is due no later than Thursday, 11/5 because the Module starts next Monday. Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it. The total due is $16.50.
If you are purchasing the book yourself, please make sure that your child has it next week.

You may purchase/order this book yourself (you might find it cheaper) or I can order it for you.
If you would like me to order the book, the money is due no later than Thursday, 11/5 because the Module starts next Monday. Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it.

Study all notes 1-89 in your class notebook, and read over your textbook for more explanation.
