Week of October 16, 2017

Weekly Reminders:
These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork:      
A. All classwork/homework must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If an assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. 12:00 dismissal today, 10/16 due to a Faculty Meeting.

F. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Tuesdays and Fridays for gym, unless students are told differently.

G. No school next Monday, 10/23 due to a Teachers’ Conference in St. Charles Borromeo.

H. Remember to buy your tickets for the concert on Thursday. 10/19. All tickets can be purchased in the school office. See Mr. Woods’ blog for information.

I. Progress Reports will be sent home Friday, 10/20. Please sign it and return on Monday. When I check the signature, I will return the Progress Report to you.

J. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.
Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

Grade 6 Lesson Plans

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 6

Unit 1- Whole Group Learning. Homework will be assigned during the week. Remember reading stories does count as assignments, so make sure you read them. There will be short quizzes given on stories read for homework. If anyone has a problem getting on the Pearson Realize website at home, please let me know. You will then have to take your textbook home.

Monday. HW- Please reread the story “from Brown Girl Dreaming”. We will be having a selection test on Tuesday or Wednesday on the story and skills we discussed in class.

Tuesday. HW- Write a 3 paragraph Autobiography about your life so far. You should have at least 6 sentences in each paragraph. Use details to make your story interesting. Remember start on the day that you were born and end at the present. Due Friday,10/20. This must be completed on loose-leaf!

Tuesday. HW- On page 31, Complete the Assignment in the box under Speaking and Listening (about Monologues). Use #s 1 and 2 to prepare to present your monologue to the class. Due Friday, 10/20. This must be completed on loose-leaf!

Social Studies Homework for Grade 8

Unit 5 The Nation Breaks Apart- 1865-1877 – Chapter 17: Reconstruction

Monday- Write each vocabulary word and its definition in your SS notebook. Due Wednesday, 10/18.

Tuesday-Chapter 17 Read pages 558-563. Complete questions 1a, 2b, 3a, 4a on page 557. Restate the question in the answer and make sure you have a full heading. Due Thursday,10/20.
