GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. MAP Makeup Tests this week.

A. All classwork/homework must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted and no pencil).  

B. Please make sure that you have loose-leaf. Paper cannot be ripped out of a notebook.

Unit 2 Cultures Meet/ Chapter 4: Building the First Colonies

Tuesday,1/22:  Write the vocabulary words and their definitions in your Social Studies notebook. Due Thursday, 1/24.

Wednesday,1/23: Read pages 160-167 in your textbook. Answer the questions below on loose-leaf (with a full heading) Due Friday, 1/25.

Vocabulary Words:
pilgrim, compact, self-government, majority rule, primary source, secondary source

Questions:
1. Why did the Pilgrims want to go to North America?
2. Why was the Mayflower Compact important?
3. How did Tisquantum help the Pilgrims?
4. Why did the Plymouth colonists want to buy furs from the Native Americans?
5. Why did the relationship between the Native Americans and the colonists change?

This week we will be concluding Unit 1 in My Perspectives and reviewing some skills that students got wrong on the Midterm Exam.

Common Lit- complete the assignment. This is due on Friday, 1/25.

Language Arts- we will continue to review pronouns and complete a compare/contrast essay on the Sea of Monsters.
