Weekly Reminders:
GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. Remember all students are to come to the church in the morning for Prayers. Anyone that does not arrive before the Pledge of Allegiance will be marked late or absent.

C. Monday, May 13 (tomorrow)- May Procession. All students should be in full uniform. Each child should also have rosary beads to carry with them for the procession. Rosary Beads can be purchased in the supply room if you don’t have them.

D. NWEA Testing. The schedule for Grades 4-8 is below:
Tuesday 5/14- Math
Wednesday 5/15- Language Arts
Tuesday 5/21-Reading

E. Monday 5/20- 12:00 Dismissal. Scoring of the NYSESLAT. The ASP will be in session.

GRADES 5, 6, 7, 8  
A. All classwork/homework must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted and no pencil).  Please bring a highlighter and red pen to class each day.

B. Please make sure that you have loose-leaf and a pen every day. Paper cannot be ripped out of a notebook.

C. Remember homework counts as part of the total grade!

Social Studies Homework for Grade 5

Unit 3 The Thirteen Colonies/ Chapter 6: The Middle Colonies

Vocabulary Words:
They are already defined in the notes.

Monday, 5/13 Finish copying the notes for Chapter 6. They are posted on last week’s blog. I will be collecting the notebooks tomorrow.

Tuesday, 5/14 Please read over pages 224-245. This will help you to understand the notes better. We will be reviewing these pages in class.

Questions:
Answer questions 1-6 (write word and definition) on page 248 and 7-13 (restate) on page 249. Due on Monday, 5/20 on loose-leaf.

There will be a quiz on Chapter 6 notes on Thursday, 5/23.

Monday, 5/13:
1. Review the MAP Language Vocabulary written in your notebook for MAP testing on Wednesday (Language Arts).
2. Review the MAP Reading Vocabulary for MAP Testing in Reading next Tuesday,5/21.

Tuesday, 5/14: There will be a quiz on Esperanza’s Rising pages 1-22 on Thursday, 5/16.

Esperanza’s Rising- please read pages 23-80 (about 10 pages per day!). Please read every day and do not fall behind. We will be having another quiz on this reading next week sometime. Remember to circle any unknown words and annotate (take short notes about characters, important events, setting) either using sticky notes or a small notebook. Write the page number and lines that you are annotating. This will be discussed more in class.
