Weekly Reminders:
GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. Remember all students are to come to the church in the morning for Prayers. Anyone that does not arrive before the Pledge of Allegiance will be marked late or absent.

C. NWEA Testing. The schedule for Grades 4-8 is below:
Thursday 5/23-Reading. All students must wear uniform today!

D. Friday, 5/25 and Monday, 5/27- Memorial Day Weekend- School Closed

GRADES 5, 6, 7, 8  
A. All classwork/homework must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted and no pencil).  Please bring a highlighter and red pen to class each day.

B. Please make sure that you have loose-leaf paper and a pen every day. Paper cannot be ripped out of a notebook.

C. Remember homework counts as part of the total grade!

Unit 3 The Thirteen Colonies/ Chapter 6: The Middle Colonies

Monday, 5/20 Please read over pages 224-245. Study Chapter 6 notes for quiz on Wednesday, 5/22 (changed from Thursday due to a change in MAP testing).

Essay: Write a pargraph (6 sentences) about Benjamin Franklin.

Monday, 5/20:
Review the MAP Reading Vocabulary written in your notebook for MAP testing on Thursday (Language Arts).

Tuesday, 5/21: There will be a quiz on Esperanza’s Rising pages 23-80 on Wednesday, 5/29.

Esperanza’s Rising- please read pages 81-157 (about 10 pages per day!). Please read every day and do not fall behind. We will be having another quiz on this reading next week sometime. Remember to circle any unknown words and annotate (take short notes about characters, important events, setting) either using sticky notes or a small notebook. Write the page number and lines that you are annotating. This will be discussed more in class.  Due Friday, May 31.

ELA/Reading Homework for Grades 7 and 8

Monday, 5/20:
Review the MAP Reading Vocabulary for MAP Testing in Reading on Thursday, 5/23.

Tuesday, 5/14: There will be a quiz on To Kill a Mockingbird on pages 43-98 on Wednesday, 5/29.

To Kill a Mockingbird- please read pages 99-168 (Chapters 9-12,
about 10 pages per day!). Please read every day and do not fall behind. We will be having another quiz on this reading next week sometime. Wednesday, 5/22 Study Chapter 22 for a quiz on Tuesday, 5/28. Bring home your textbook to read over Chapter 22 in case you do not understand something or need information for the essay.

Essay: Explain the difference between President Taft's and President Wilson's policies in Latin America.
