D. Wednesday, 12/21- 4th Grade will be having a Christmas Party after Lessons and Carols. The same rules as the Halloween Party will apply. If your child would like to have pizza, he/she can bring $5 by Tuesday, or they can bring his/her own lunch. Each child will have to bring something to share with the class. Please let me know by Monday (today) as to what you will be bringing, so we do not have too much of one thing (ideas- cupcakes, donuts, soda (cans or small bottles), juice boxes, napkins, plates chips). There are NO ELECTRONICS ALLOWED!!! See Mr. Woods blog about cell phone policy.

E.  Every child will need to bring in a large plastic bag by Monday,12/19 (today) to pack up the books that they will be leaving in school over the Christmas Vacation. Everyone will have to remove all the books from their desks, and we will pack them away in the bags, so that the desks may be cleaned and sanitized. Anything that you would like your child to bring home to study or work on over the vacation, please let them know before Monday so that it is not packed away. Any child who does not bring in a bag, will have to bring everything home for the vacation.

F. Make sure to read Mr. Woods’ blog for other important information concerning electronic devices.

HOMEWORK: For the Week of December 19,2022

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 2

Ready Gen (savvasrealize.com)-We will be working on Unit 2. We will be reviewing short vowel sounds, syllabication, making sentences, and writing paragraphs. The children should review when to use a capital letter and punctuation at the end of the sentence. The children received new vocabulary words for the stories in Unit 2. We will be reviewing these words in class, and they should review them at home (a few each night).

Please make sure that your child reads for 20 minutes each night. This is important and a big part of their reading homework. You can choose any book that you want, and children can read alone or read with parents. Both ways are equally helpful. Try and ask your child questions about the story and discuss details with them. It is important for them to bring a book to school every day to read in school for silent reading. It can be the same book that he/she is reading at home or a different book. We are trying to build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

****The Edgenuity Program: The children should be working on ELA for twenty minutes every night.

All homework will be assigned on Google Classroom. Directions and due dates will be given. Please make sure that your child completes all assignments. If there is nothing assigned in Google Classroom, then your child should read for 20 minutes and complete 20 minutes of Edgenuity for ELA.

All assignments must be submitted by the date due, or points will be deducted from the grade.

****Also make sure that your child has all necessary supplies each day including masks, sharpened pencils, looseleaf, notebooks, folders,

highlighters, colored pencils, etc.

***A packet of word lists was distributed today. The children should be able to read and spell each of these words. Some words are nonsense words.

Please remember to read everyday during the vacation!
