Week of September 6, 2010: 8th Grade Reading and Social Studies

We will be reviewing basic vocabulary and comprehension skills for the first few weeks of school. Your child should have received a Reading Textbook and Skills Practice Book. We will be reading the first story called "The Love Letter". The vocabulary words for this story will be written in the Reading NB.

Your child also received a Social Studies Textbook and Activity WB. We will be taking notes and writing vocabulary for each chapter in the Social Studies NB. On Thursday, we will start working on DBQs in the Big 8 Review Book. The children will read pages 1-15 in class.

Homework for Thursday, Sept. 9,2010

On looseleaf, in The Big 8 Review complete questions 1-10 (write the number and the whole answer). On page 17, answers questions 1,2, & 3. Rewrite the question as part of the answer. Do not write the question out separately. Remember to write a full heading on the top of your looseleaf. Late, sloppy, incomplete, or incorrect HW will result in points being deducted from your assignment. Copying and assignment from another student will result in both students getting a grade of zero, so don't lend anyone your HW!!!!!

Your child should have all school supplies by tomorrow, Friday!
