1. Discuss how did mass production of inexpensive automobiles affect American life.
Answer: The mass production of inexpensive automobiles affected American life by changing the way people worked and played. People could live farther from their places of work. This speeded the growth of suburbs around large cities. People could shop in places far from their own neighborhoods and travel long distances to places of interest.
The automobile helped make the 1920’s a decade of prosperity. Auto factories employed hundreds of thousands of workers. Hundreds of thousands of more people worked to make materials that went into making cars, and d new businesses began to spring up. Also, governments spent billions of dollars on roads.

2. How did consumer credit affect the buying powers of Americans?
Answer: Consumer credit made it possible for buyers to enjoy the use of a product immediately while paying only part of its price at the time of purchase. The rest was paid in small monthly installments.

3. How did communists and anarchists become linked in many Americans’ minds?
Answer: Communists and anarchists became linked with each other because anarchists began acts of terrorism in 1919 at the same time that a Communist party was formed in the United States.  The Communists had overthrown the government of Russia in 1917, and the United States citizens feared an overthrow of their government.

4. Discuss the desirable and undesirable effects of prohibition.
Answer: Prohibition’s desirable result was that it did not result in the decline of drinking. But it led to some other results that were undesirable. Millions of people refused to obey the law. Prohibition led to bootlegging, speakeasies, and the growth of organized crime.
