Week of March 26, 2012

Reminders:

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) and pencil is not allowed.

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads are unacceptable).

C. The students are given 20 vocabulary words per week. They will have to copy the words and definitions on Monday for Homework and it will be checked on Tuesday by the Homeroom Teacher. If your child does not have internet access at home, he/she will be able to stay in the Afterschool Program on Mondays from 3:00-3:30 in order to copy the words into the Vocabulary NBs.

D. 5th Grade will have GYM on Monday this week, so remember to wear Gym clothes.

E. Reminder: please bring a large shopping bag (or two) to pack up books that will be left in the classroom during Easter Vacation. If you would like any books to be brought home, please let your child know before they pack them up.

F. Thursday- 12:00 Dismissal.  Report Cards will be distributed by Fr. Almonte. If your child does not receive a Report Card in school, you must pick it up between 2-7 PM.

G. Stations of the Cross at 8:30. This will be followed by an Honors Assembly in the church. Your child’s Report Card will state whether he/she will receive Honors.  The children may wear dress up clothes to school on Friday. No jeans and no sneakers.

Dear Parents,
I wish all of you a Happy and Safe Easter Holiday.
Please make sure that your child reads over the vacation. It doesn’t matter what it is, just as long as they read for at least 30 minutes every day. It is a good habit to develop.
Remember school resumes on Monday, 4/16.

Complete (in the Practice book) page. 151 (1-7, and then write a paragraph of 4-6 sentences on 8-10) on looseleaf.
Remember to put a complete heading on the looseleaf.

3. WednesdayOn looseleaf, complete pg. 153 (1-6 restate) (Practice book)

4. Thursday- Open Book Test on the Rats of Nimh pgs. 96-128

3. Wednesday- In Aim Higher read pg. 175- 179. Answer all of the questions on these pgs. on looseleaf (write question and answer).
Make sure you give this assignment to Mr. Marcial.

4. Thursday- In Aim Higher, read pgs. 194-207, on notetaking and graphic organizers, and pgs. 210 -211. Answer the questions on pgs. 212-213 (1-3) on looseleaf (write out).
Complete on looseleaf with a complete heading.
Make sure you give this assignment to Mr. Marcial.

 Complete (in the Skills Practice book) page. 113 (1-10-write everything out on looseleaf, and skip lines).

Also complete page 116 (1-21- write everything out on looseleaf. Skip lines).

3. Wednesday- Work on Social Studies assignments.

4. Thursday- In the Word Study Book, complete pg. 29 (1-18). Do in the middle of the Reading NB (skills section) Label as Vowel Sounds. .Write the question and answer.  Complete pg. 34 (1-22, question /answer).

7th Grade Social Studies

Lesson Plans:
 This work can be started in class and finished for homework. It is up to you to get as much done as possible during class, so there is not too much to complete for homework. I have decided to combine the test for Chapters 8 and 9, so we will continue on to Chapter 9 this week. All assignment s will be given to Mr. Marcial, and corrected by me!!!!!!!

Classwork &Homework: Unit 4 (Chapter 9- The Federalist Period- 1789-1800)

Monday, 3/26- In the back of your Social Studies notebook, copy the vocabulary words and definitions on pgs. 260, 266, 269, and 270. Label it as Chapter 9 Vocabulary Words and date it.

Tuesday, 3/27- On looseleaf, complete Checkup questions on pg. 265 (1, 2, 3, & 5), and 268 (1-4). Remember this will be graded, so you must read each section and look up the answers!  Put your heading on the looseleaf, and skip a line between each question.
Remember, it must be done in black or blue ink…not red, purple, or orange because that is a zero!

Wednesday, 3/28- - On looseleaf, complete Checkup questions on pg. 272 (1-4), and 277 (1-4). Remember this will be graded, so look the answers up!  Put your heading on the looseleaf, and skip a line between each question.

Thursday, 3/29- On looseleaf, complete the Chapter 9 Review on pg. 279 (Vocabulary Review 1- and Chapter Checkup 1, 2, 3, 5). Remember this will be graded, so look the answers up!  Put your heading on the looseleaf, and skip a line between each question.

4. Thursday- Work on Social Studies Assignments.

8th Grade Social Studies

Lesson Plans:  
This work can be started in class and finished for homework. It is up to you to get as much done as possible during class, so there is not too much to complete for homework. I have decided to combine the test for Chapters 8 and 9, so we will continue on to Chapter 9 this week. All assignment s will be given to Mr. Marcial, and corrected by me!!!!!!!

Classwork & Homework:  Unit 4 (Chapter 9- The Great Depression and The New Deal 1929-1938)

Monday, 3/26- pg. Copy the vocabulary and definitions on pgs. 304, 311, and 321 into the back of the Social Studies NB. Label as Vocabulary for Chapter 9.

Tuesday, 3/27- On looseleaf, answer Checkup questions on pg. 310 (1-4) and pg. 320 (1-4).  Remember this will be graded, so you must read each section and look up the answers!  Put your heading on the looseleaf, and skip a line between each question.

Wednesday, 3/28- On looseleaf, answer Checkup questions on pg. 325 (1-4), and pg. 327 – Vocabulary Review 1-10, Chapter Checkup Questions 3, 4, 5

Thursday, 3/29- Finish any work not completed for this week, and give all the assignments on looseleaf to Mr. Marcial.
