Weekly Reminders:
GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. Wednesday, October 1 Class pictures and pictures for the website. All students must be in full uniform. Please see the Parent Handbook if you are unsure of the uniform. Girls should be wearing blue stockings or socks with black or blue shoes and boys should be also wearing black shoes. The children may bring their gym uniforms and sneakers in a bag.

C. Mass for the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi Thursday, 10/4 at 9:00 AM. The children may bring their pets to church to be blessed. Cats and dogs must be brought to church by a parent or friend and taken home after Mass.

D. National Poetry Contest on Thursday, 10/4 at 1:30 PM in the lunchroom. Grades 3-8.

E. No school on Monday, 10/8- Columbus Day

F. Make sure to read Mr. Woods blog for other important information.

Grade 6 Lesson Plans for ELA/Grammar

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 6

This week we will be discussing memoirs and poetry. We will also be discussing personal and nonfiction narratives and continue to review types of nouns.

My Perspectives (Pearson)- Please review (in your textbook or online at Pearson Realize) the story, vocabulary, and concepts (word study and conventions) that we are working on in class. We will be taking a baseline assessment this week to find your Lexile level.

Monday 10/1- Poetry Contest. You must find a poem 8 lines or more and present it in class. This is due on Wednesday,10/3.
There will be a School Poetry Contest on Thursday, 10/4 in the lunchroom at 2:00 PM for the best presenters from the classroom contest.

Voyages Practice Book- page 8 #s 1-18 (even numbers only). Please complete in your notebook with the date, name of the book and page, and the Aim. Due on Friday, 10/5.

Grammar Quiz on Friday- Nouns. Study pages 1-8 in the Voyages textbook.
