Weekly Reminders:
GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. Individual school pictures on November 6. Please return the envelope with the money to Mrs. Resto.

C. If you haven’t signed your child’s Progress Report, please do so and return by tomorrow.

D. We will be having a Halloween Party next Wednesday. The children will be able to wear costumes and bring in snacks to share with the class. They will also have to bring in a bag of candy to give out to the PreK and K. More information to follow on next week's blog.

E. Make sure to read Mr. Woods blog for other important information.

Monday,10/22: Define each word below in your Social Studies Vocabulary NB. Please use the glossary in the back of the SS text and write the entire definition. If it isn’t in the book, you can search for it online. Just make sure the definition goes with what we are discussing. Due Wednesday, 10/24

Tuesday,10/23: Read pages 68-75 in the Social Studies textbook. On loose-leaf, answer the following questions. You may restate the question in the answer. Due Friday, 10/26

Questions:
1. What different ways was buffalo meat prepared?
2. How were the Central Plains Indians both farmers and hunters?
3. Why did people on the Great Plains have a nomadic way of life?
4. How were the governments of the Lakota and the Cheyenne different?
5. What was the purpose of a travois?

The 6th grade will be reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. The publisher is Disney Press and the publication date is 3/20/2007. The book with tax is $8.50. We will begin reading the book on Monday, October 29.

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 6
This week we will continue to discuss memoirs and poetry. We will also be discussing personal and nonfiction narratives and continue to review types of nouns.

My Perspectives (Pearson)- Please review (in your textbook or online at Pearson Realize) the story, vocabulary, and concepts (word study and conventions) that we are working on in class.

Tuesday 10/23- Rewrite your Personal Narrative on loose-leaf with the corrections that I made. Remember to use the characteristics of personal narratives that we listed in your notebook. Due on Friday, 10/26

Wednesday 10/24 Voyages Practice Book- page 13 #s 1-20 (odd numbers only). Please complete in your notebook with the date, name of the book and page, and the AimDue on Friday, 10/26.
