Weekly Reminders:
GRADE 4-HOMEROOM

A. Gym uniforms must be worn by 4th graders on Wednesdays for gym unless students are told differently.

B. Individual school pictures on November 6. Please return the envelope with the money to Mrs. Resto this week.

C. We will be having a Halloween Party on Wednesday. The children should:
a. wear costumes to school.
b. bring a bag of candy to give out to the PreK and K.
c. bring their lunch and something to drink (for themselves- no big bottles of juice or soda).
d. bring a snack (cookies, cupcakes, donuts, etc.) to share with the class.
e. bring their bookbags, since there will be class in the morning.

There will be a costume contest in the lunchroom at 2:00. Parents are invited to attend.

D. November calendars will be given out today (Monday).

E. Make sure to read Mr. Woods blog for other important information.

Monday,10/29:  Define each word below in your Social Studies Vocabulary NB. Please use the glossary in the back of the SS text and write the entire definition. If it isn’t in the book, you can search for it online. Just make sure the definition goes with what we are discussing. Due Thursday, 11/1

Tuesday,10/30: Read pages 76-81 in the Social Studies textbook. On loose-leaf, answer the following questions. You may restate the question in the answer. Due Friday, 11/2

Questions:
1. How were Pueblo and Navajo shelters different?
2. How did trade networks bring distant goods?
3. What event caused some Hopi people to live with the Navajo?
4. How does Luci Tapahonso work to keep the Navajo community alive?

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 6
This week we will be to discussing comic strips. We will also be discussing personal and nonfiction narratives and continue to review types of nouns.

My Perspectives (Pearson)- Please review (in your textbook or online at Pearson Realize) the story, vocabulary, and concepts (word study and conventions) that we are working on in class.

We will be having a quiz on “Brown Girl Dreaming” this week.

Tuesday 10/30 Voyages Practice Book- page 14 #s 1-22 (even numbers only). Please complete in your notebook with the date, name of the book and page, and the AimDue on Friday, 11/2.

Grade 6 Lesson Plans for ELA/Reading and Grammar

The 7th and 8th grades will be reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. The publisher is Back Bay Books and the publication date is 4/20/2004.

We will begin reading the book on Monday, October 29. Please start reading the book as soon as you get it.
