Week of November 30, 2015

Reminders:

These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork: 

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads are unacceptable).
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Please cover all textbooks and workbooks. A clear plastic cover is suggested.

F. Gym uniforms must be worn by 5th graders on Wednesdays for gym.

G. Students in the 5th grade will have extended day classes each Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 for Math. 

H. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.

F. Gym uniforms must be worn by 5th graders on Wednesdays for gym.

G. No Extended Day Math class this week.

H. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.

I. Please remember to send in canned food for the people at the Nursing Home. Tuesday (tomorrow) is the last day.

J. There will be a Thanksgiving Assembly on Tuesday, 11/24 at 9:00 AM.Students may wear dress clothes (black pants and white shirts, and whatever else that Ms. Alma told you at rehearsal). All students are asked to bring in a dish of food to share after the concert, as a way of celebrating Thanksgiving Day together. All types of foods are welcome! All parents are invited to attend.

K. There will be 9:00 AM on Wednesday, 11/25 for Thanksgiving and an Honors Assembly will follow Mass. If your child’s Report Card stated that he/she would be receiving honors, the certificates will be given out after Mass.

L. 5th Grade students may bring snacks and something to drink on Wednesday for a small Thanksgiving Party in the afternoon. They can also wear dress clothes and should bring their lunch.

K. There will be no After School Program on Wednesday! Dismissal for all students will be at 3:00 PM.

J. Report Cards will be distributed on Friday, 11/20. There will be an Assembly at 9:00 for the students who have passed all of their classes for the First Quarter.

K. There will be a 12:00 dismissal on Friday, 11/20. The Afterschool Program will still be in session.

L. There will be Parent-Teach Conferences on Friday, 11/20 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 7:00pm. The school closes promptly at 7:00. If your child doesn’t receive their Report Card in school on Friday and your tuition is paid up to date, then you must come and see your child’s teachers.

M. Module 2 begins this week. Many students, especially in Grade 8 have not yet purchased the book.

1. Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom, Super Scientist by Donald B. Lemke - $8.50
2. The Boy Who Invented TV: The Story of Philo Farnsworth by Kathleen Krull $8.00.

You may purchase/order this books yourself (you might find it cheaper) or I can order it for you.
If you would like me to order the book, the money is due no later than Thursday, 11/5 because the Module starts next Monday. Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it. The total due is $16.50.

Homework for Grade 5:

All of Module 1 vocabulary words should be written on index cards, so you may start studying for the Module 1 test next week. The vocabulary word should be printed on the front of the card and definition on the back. It should read Module 1 Unit 2 in small print on the bottom of the card.  

Read pgs. 234- the end of the book in Esperanza's Rising.

Reading Vocabulary for the week will be listed in the Reading Vocabulary notebook.

The 5th-grade students must purchase two books for Module 2. I am sorry about this, but this is what the state has recommended. The books are as follows:

1. Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom, Super Scientist by Donald B. Lemke - $8.50
2. The Boy Who Invented TV: The Story of Philo Farnsworth by Kathleen Krull $8.00.

You may purchase/order this books yourself (you might find it cheaper) or I can order it for you.
If you would like me to order the book, the money is due no later than Thursday, 11/5 because the Module starts next Monday. Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it. The total due is $16.50.
