HOMEWORK: For the Week of November 28,2022

ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 2

Ready Gen (savvasrealize.com)-We will be working on Unit 2. We will be reviewing short vowel sounds, syllabication, and making sentences. The children should review when to use a capital letter and punctuation at the end of the sentence. The children received new vocabulary words for the stories in Unit 2. We will be reviewing these words in class, and they should review them at home (a few each night).

Please make sure that your child reads for 20 minutes each night. This is important and a big part of their reading homework. You can choose any book that you want, and children can read alone or read with parents. Both ways are equally helpful. Try and ask your child questions about the story and discuss details with them. It is important for them to bring a book to school every day to read in school for silent reading. It can be the same book that he/she is reading at home or a different book. We are trying to build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

****The Edgenuity Program is now working properly. The children should be working on ELA for twenty minutes every night.

All homework will be assigned on Google Classroom. Directions and due dates will be given. Please make sure that your child completes all assignments. If there is nothing assigned in Google Classroom, then your child should read for 20 minutes and complete 20 minutes of Edgenuity for ELA.

All assignments must be submitted by the date due, or points will be deducted from the grade.

****Also make sure that your child has all necessary supplies each day including masks, sharpened pencils, looseleaf, notebooks, folders, highlighters, colored pencils, etc.

Science Homework for Grade 2

Study Unit 1 Concept 1.2 notes and vocabulary for a quiz next week. The test will be the same format as the first quiz.

The children should review when to use a capital letter and punctuation at the end of the sentence. The children will be getting new vocabulary words for the stories in Unit 2. We will also be reviewing these words in class. I will post the words and definitions during the week on Google Classroom. They should write the words and definitions in their ELA notebooks just like Unit 1.  The students also received a list of Dolch Sight Words last week. The students should recognize these words be sight and also be able to spell them. They are located in the ELA folder.

                    Have a wonderful week!
