Week of September 29, 2014

Reminders:
These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork: 

A. All school supplies should have been in today.

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable). 
         
C. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a not from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

F. Please cover the New York Progress book. A clear plastic cover is suggested.

G. Gym uniforms must be worn on Thursdays for gym.

H. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.

I. Progress Reports will be distributed on Friday.

J. The children may bring in their pets to school on Friday,10/3 to be blessed at the Mass for St. Francis of Assisi. All cats and dogs must be brought to the church directly and then taken home after Mass. Animals in tanks or cages may stay in the classroom.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

Grade 5 is reading Thomas A. Edison by Sue Guthridge for Unit 1.Please read up to page 114 by Friday, 10/3.


Homework:

MondayWrite a report on an inventor of your choice. The report can be typed or written. You may also use the same report that you do for Ms. Serewko being it is the same topic. If you choose to do one report for both classes, make sure to print two copies.

If it is typed:
1. Double spaced
2. 12 font, New Times Roman
3. No more than two typed pages.
4. You may add pictures if you like.
5. Have a separate page for the resources that you used for information.

If it is written:
1. Write on looseleaf (do not write on the back)
2. No more than 4 sides of looseleaf
3. Blue or black ink
4. You may add pictures if you like.
5. Have a separate page for the resources that you used for information.

 Your report should answer the following questions:
1. Name of Inventor
2. Where is he/she from and when did he/she live?
3. What are some important details about his/her life?
4. What are some of the inventions that he/she created?
5. Why did you choose this inventor and how are the inventions important to us today?

Homework:

MondayDo a report or a PowerPoint presentation on a children’s author of your choice. The report must be typed .

Requirements for the Report:
1. Double spaced
