Week of January 30, 2012

Reminders:

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) and pencil is not allowed.

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).

C. Starting this week, the students will be given 20 vocabulary words per week. They will have to copy the words and definitions on Monday for Homework and it will be checked on Tuesday by the Homeroom Teacher. If your child does not have internet access at home, he/she will be able to stay in the Afterschool Program on Mondays from 3:00-3:30 in order to copy the words into the Vocabulary NBs.

D. 5th grade will have Gym on Friday, instead of Monday until further notice.

E. Weds. 2/1 Report Cards will be distributed. There will be a 12:00 dismissal. If your child does not receive his/her Report Card in school, it must be picked up between 2:00 – 7:00. Each parent’s conference will be limited to ten minutes, so that waiting time is not prolonged. The school closes promptly at 7:00.

F. Individual Pictures will be taken on Thurs, 2/2. If you are paying for your child to take a picture, they may wear whatever you want their picture taken in. Any children not taking a picture, must wear their uniforms. The class picture is not being taken on Thursday.

G. There will be an Honors Assembly on Friday, 2/4 after the 9:00 Mass. Check your child’s Report Card to see if it states he/she are receiving Honors.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

Word Wall Test Friday, 2/3. Review the twenty words given this week that are written in the vocabulary notebook.

Remember to copy the words and definitions off of the blog on Monday.This assignment will be checked Tuesday during Homeroom.

C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW.
This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not
because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW).

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Each child has a book to read. He/she should take notes while reading the book (write them on loose-leaf or index cards). A test will be given every week on the chapters assigned to be read for that week. Your child will be allowed to use both notes and the book for the test. The book must be returned on the day of the test. A new book will not be given to your child until the previous one is returned. If the book gets lost or damaged, your child must replace it!

F. Remember the Reading Skills Practice (7 & 8 grades), Reading Practice Book (5 & 6 grades), and Social Studies Workbook.
