Week of January 31,2011

Reminders:

As stated on last week's blog, these are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork. Your child will lose points if they do not follow the directions stated below.

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) and pencil will not be accepted unless it is specified. Sloppy and crossed out work will not be accepted.

B. **Any 7th or 8th grade students that attend Title 1 Math or Reading during Social Studies, must hand in all homework assignments and get notes from another classmate, so they do not fall behind in their notes.

C. Envelopes were handed out last week for pictures. Please return the envelope with the money enclosed to Mrs. Resto in the Tuition Room so you may be given a receipt. Individual Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, 2/1. If your child is taking an individual picture, they may wear dress clothes on Tuesday. See blog for what cannot be worn.

D. Class Pictures will be taken on Thursday, 2/3 after Mass. All students need to be in full uniform (No gym uniforms or regular clothes!).

E. Wednesday, 2/2 -12:00 Dismissal. Parent Conferences from 2-7. Report Card Assembly for grades 5-8 will be at 9:30 in the lunchroom.

F. Friday, 2/4 dismissal is at 3:00.

C. The History Fair at OLQM will be held tomorrow- Monday, 1/24. Anyone that is presenting should have their projects ready and a list of sources, including at least one primary source listed.

D. All students in the 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grades should review the vocabulary words in their reading notebooks for the Midterm Exams. Words were checked off to study. They should also review skills that we have covered in class from their Word Study Book (5th grade), Practice Books (6th grades) or Skills Practice Books (7th & 8th grades). A midterm review for each class has been posted on the blog.

E. The Reading Exam will be given on Tues, 1/25 for Grades 5-8

A midterm review for each class has been posted on the blog.

Presentations for the NHD projects will continue this week. If your process paper is handed back, please make corrections and return by Monday 1/10. Make sure to include a list of the sources that you used for your research. Remember that you cannot be part of the School History Day Fair unless you have a least one primary source. If you are unsure about this, ask me or go to NHD.org and read up on the rules.
Some students did not hand in the DBQ that was started in class the week before Christmas Vacation. There should be three parts to this assignment- Short Answer, Documents, and Essay. In order not to receive a zero, this must be given to me by Friday, 1/7. This was due on Dec. 16, so points will be deducted for being late. If you are not sure if you turned it in, please ask me before Thursday.
