Week of December 19, 2016

Reminders:

1. Fifth Grade-On Wednesday, 12/21 we will be celebrating Lessons and Carols in the church at 8:30 AM. Every class will sing a song. Ms. Alma, the music teacher has asked that the girls wear something red, green, or white.
The boys should wear black pants with a white, green, or red shirt. No sneakers!

2. Fifth Grade- We will also be having a party on 12/21. The children have asked to order pizza, so if they want pizza that will need to bring $5 before Tuesday, 12/20. If they don’t bring in money, I will assume they are bringing their own lunch. They also should bring something to drink and some type of treat to share with the class (cupcakes, cookies, brownies, donuts).

3. Fifth Grade- Each child needs to bring in a large plastic shopping bag by Tuesday 12/20 to pack the books he/she will be leaving in school over the Christmas break. It really needs to be strong in order to hold enough of the textbooks.

4. Please check the blog and Google Classroom for updated homework assignments or announcements. Make sure that you read Mr. Woods blog for other important announcements.

The 5th Grade is reading the following books for Module 2:
a. Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom, Super Scientist
b. The Boy Who invented TV: The Story of Philo Farnsworth

Please finish reading both books and the independent reading book during the Christmas vacation.

Achieve 3000 is assigned each week to help improve the children’s vocabulary and comprehension skills. The children should complete any assignments (activities or thought questions) that are not completed during class. They can also get extra review by completing the stretch activities for the story that they have worked on in class. The Activity and Thought Question must be completed every week because they are counted as a grade!

Week of December 12, 2016

Reminders:

These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork: 
       
A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads are unacceptable).
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due unless I receive a note from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Gym uniforms must be worn by 5th graders on Wednesdays for gym.

F. Extended day classes for 5th grade on Tuesday and Wednesday 3:00-5:00.

G. No After School Program on Friday.

Please make sure that the meaning relates to what we are doing in class. Due Friday, 12/16

Tuesday-Read pages 98-103 in the textbook. On page 103, answer questions 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a (you must restate the question in the answer) on looseleaf with a full heading. Due Friday, 12/16.

Slide 4: What tribe did your Native American belong too? Where in America was the tribe located? Give information about the tribe and location (is more than 1 slide)

Slide 5: What part of history does your person live during. Explain your answer.

Slide 6: Bibliography- there must be more than two sources of information, meaning at least three. (video is optional)

There should be no more than two sentences of text on a slide. Your information should be on index cards. Study your presentation, so you are not reading from the cards- the cards should be used as notes, so you don't forget anything. I will be grading much harder than your first project! Please follow the outline carefully. This project must be done in Google Classroom!
