Week of February 28 ,2011

Reminders:

As stated on last week's blog, these are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork. Your child will lose points if they do not follow the directions stated below.

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) Pencil will not be accepted unless it is specified. Sloppy and crossed out work will not be accepted. All work that is handed in must be done on looseleaf, or 25% will be deducted from the grade.

B. **Any 7th or 8th grade students that attend Title 1 Math or Reading during Reading or Social Studies, must hand in all homework assignments and get notes from another classmate, so they do not fall behind in their notes. The same goes for students who are absent. A grade of zero will be entered until assignments are handed in.

C. All electronic devices are collected from each student upon entering the classroom and are returned before dismissal each day! See the school blog for further information.

D. Tomorrow 2/28 is Hippie Day! Dress up and maybe be a the winner‼‼

E. Friday, 3/4 There is a 12:00 dismissal due to a Faculty Meeting

Homework: Write about a famous Black American. Your report should be divided into two parts: 1^st Part-Background information (name, date, and place of birth, childhood, where he/she grew up, education, date of death-if the person has already died.

2^nd Part- Why is the person you chose considered famous? You should discuss why you chose this particular person and what is it that made this person famous.

Your report should be 500 words and can be written or LL or typed. It can include pictures, but doesn’t have to. Font is Times New Roman (12) double-spaced. Please add a reference page to the back of your report (the sources you used for your information). Follow the same format as when you do a report for Science. This is due Tuesday, 2/22.

If you type it, it must be printed out before Tuesday, 2/22. No one will be allowed to print on Tuesday morning‼‼! It also cannot be copied from any article or book (I will check). Everything must be put into your own words. If you have any questions, ASK ME BEFORE THE DUE DATE‼!
