Week of December 13 ,2010

Reminders:

As stated on last week's blog, these are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork. Your child will lose points if they do not follow the directions stated below.

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) and pencil will not be accepted unless it is specified. Sloppy and crossed out work will not be accepted.

B. **Any 7th or 8th grade students that attend Title 1 Math or Reading during Social Studies, must hand in all homework assignments and get notes from another classmate, so they do not fall behind in their notes.

C. Test papers will be sent home this week for you to look over and sign. Please look for them in your child’s HW folder.

D. Map of the Month must be completed on or before December 15.

E. 7th and 8th Grade students must be ready to start presenting their NHD projects this week- 12/13.

F. We will be collecting hats, scarves, socks, and gloves for the poor and needy of our parish community. Please help in any way possible. Thank you for your continuous generosity!

G. Progress reports will be sent home on Thursday, 12/16.

H. All students in the 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grades should begin to review the vocabulary words in their reading notebooks for the Midterm Exams. Words will be checked off to study. They should also review skills that we have covered in class from their Practice Books (5th and 6th grades) or Skills Practice Books (7th & 8th grades).

7th and 8th Grade students should start reviewing the notes in their Social Studies NBs for the Midterm Exams. These tests are cumulative from Sept.-Jan.

Please check the blog over the vacation for more information as to what to review.

I would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, & Safe New Year! If you are traveling, please be careful. See you all in 2011!

Sincerely,

Donna Toscano Larios

For Fifth Grade Students Only:

1. Please send in 2 or 3 plastic shopping bags by Thursday to pack up all of the books that your child will be leaving in school during Christmas vacation. Also please give your child a list of the books that you would like him/her to bring home over the vacation. This is so they are not packed away with the books that are staying here.

2. We will be having a Christmas Party on Thursday afternoon. Each child should bring in $3.00 by Weds. They should also bring something to drink for themselves and some type of treat to share with the class (cookies, chips, cupcakes, donuts, etc.). The children do not need to wear uniforms, but must dress appropriately- no jeans. They can also bring games and music.

3. The children may bring in Christmas cards to distribute to their friends on Thursday, if they wish to.

4. Lessons and Carols will be held in the church on Friday at 10:00. All parents are invited to attend. Your child should bring their bookbags because they will be carrying books home. All students must be in full uniforms.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!
