Week of April 16, 2012


Reminders:

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) and pencil is not allowed.

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads are unacceptable).

C. The students are given 20 vocabulary words per week. They will have to copy the words and definitions on Monday for Homework and it will be checked on Tuesday by the Homeroom Teacher. If your child does not have internet access at home, he/she will be able to stay in the Afterschool Program on Mondays from 3:00-3:30 in order to copy the words into the Vocabulary NBs.

D. 5th Grade will have GYM on Monday this week, so remember to wear Gym clothes.

E. April Calendar will be sent home today.

F. Quarter 4 begins today.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

You are responsible for all of the following work, whether or not you have class. Make sure anything done on looseleaf is given to Mr. Marcial before Friday afternoon. Any missing assignments will be given a zero. Notebooks will be checked when I return.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh- Make sure that you finished reading the whole book.

1. Monday- In the front of your Reading Notebook, define the following words using the glossary in the back of the book.  This work can be started in class and finished for homework. It is up to you to get as much done as possible during class, so there is not too much to complete for homework.

Vocabulary for City Birds:
veering,  species,  metropolitan,  predator,  boom,  descendant, spiraling,  aerial,  navigating, coincidence

**Remember to copy the vocabulary for the week into your Vocabulary NB tonight if there are any new words given.

2. Tuesday- Read the story The Dolphins Led Me Home in class.
Complete (in the Practice book) page. 165 (Write out whole paragraph- only Part A 1-10) on looseleaf.
Remember to put a complete heading on the looseleaf.

3. WednesdayOn looseleaf, complete pg. 166 (Part A 1-7). Write copy the whole story map and fill it in using your textbook. (Practice book)

4. Thursday- Word Study Book pg. 36 1-18. Do this in the middle section of your Reading NB (skills section). Write out all sentences.

5. Friday- Word Study Book pg. 42 1-12. Do this in the middle section of your Reading NB (skills section). Write out all sentences.

2. Tuesday- Friday. Read Miss Faberge’s Last Daze in the text. In the Practice Book, complete pg. 157 1-8 on looseleaf, and pg. 158 (copy the story map on looseleaf and fill it in using the textbook. Make sure you give this assignment to Mr. Marcial by Friday.

2. TuesdayRead the story Daedalus and Icarus in the textbook.  In the Practice Book, complete pg.118 (1-12-write everything out on looseleaf, and skip lines). Also complete pg. 119 1-11 (write everything out and skip lines).

3. Wednesday- Work on Social Studies during Reading.

4. Thursday- In the Word Study Book, complete pg. 37 (1-10). Do this in the middle section of your Reading NB (skills section) and label as Vowel Sounds. .Write the question and answer.  Complete pg. 39 (1-12), write the name of the picture and the correct answer.

5. Friday- Word Study Book- complete pg. 40 (1-14 question and answer) and pg. 42 (1-18 question and answer). Do this in the middle section of your Reading NB (skills section) and label as Vowel Sounds.


7th Grade Social Studies

Lesson Plans:
