HOMEWORK: For the Week of November 14,2022
ELA/Reading Homework for Grade 2
Ready Gen (savvasrealize.com)-We will
be working on Unit 2. We will be reviewing short vowel sounds, syllabication,
and making sentences this week. The children should review when to use a
capital letter and punctuation at the end of the sentence. The children will be
getting new vocabulary words for the stories in Unit 2. We will also be
reviewing these words in class. I will post the words and definitions during
the week on Google Classroom. They should write the words and definitions in
their ELA notebooks just like Unit 1. The
students also received a list of Dolch Sight Words last week. The students
should recognize these words be sight and also be able to spell them. They are
located in the ELA folder.
Please make sure that your child
reads for 20 minutes each night. This is important and a big part of their
reading homework. You can choose any book that
you want, and children can read alone or read with parents. Both ways are
equally helpful. Try and ask your child questions about the story and discuss
details with them. It is important for them to
bring a book to school everyday to read in school for silent reading. It can be
the same book that he/she is reading at home or a different book. We are
trying to build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
****The Edgenuity Program is now working
properly. The children should be working on
ELA for twenty minutes every night.
All homework will be assigned on Google Classroom. Directions and due dates will be given. Please make sure that your child completes all assignments. If there is nothing assigned in Google Classroom, then your child should read for 20 minutes and complete 20 minutes of Edgenuity for ELA.
All assignments must be submitted by the date due, or points will be deducted from the grade.
****Also make sure that your child has all necessary supplies each day including masks, sharpened pencils, looseleaf, notebooks, folders, highlighters, colored pencils, etc.
Science Homework for Grade 2
Unit 1 Vocabulary - Concept 1:2 will be posted on Google Classroom. The children should copy the vocabulary and definitions in The Science Notebook just like they did for Concept 1.1.
