WEEKLY REMINDERS:
GRADE 4 -HOMEROOM
A. Please bring a package of masks to school to have each day.
B. Dismissal time will now be 2:45 PM for all students.
C. The Title I Program. The schedule is as follows: 2:45-4:30
Mondays
and Tuesdays- Kindergarten, Grades 2, 7, and 8
Wednesdays
and Thursdays- Grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6
D. This week Gym will be on Thursday due to clean up and party on Friday.
Stations
of the Cross will be @ 11:30 AM. Students must wear their gym uniforms.
E. Please send in a plastic shopping bag by Wednesday, 3/29 to pack up the books that your child will leave in school during the Easter Vacation. Any books that do not fit in the plastic bag will have to go home, since no books can be left in the desks because they are being cleaned.
F. Make sure to read Mr. Woods’
blog for other important information.
G. Friday, March 31 Grade 4 will be
having an Easter Party. Pizza will be $5 for whoever wants it. The money is due
by Wednesday and also the plastic shopping bags to pack up the books. The
children may bring their own lunch if they prefer. Each child should also bring
in something to share with the class (boxed juices, cans of soda, cupcakes,
donuts). Please let your child know what they will be contributing, so we are
not all bringing in the same thing. The children can also bring in their
electronics and do not need to wear their uniforms. Easter Vacation begins at
dismissal. School resumes on Monday, April 17th.
H. NYS ELA Exam will be
administered on Wednesday, 4/19 and Thursday, 4/20 8:30-11:30.

Week of March 27, 2023- Things we
will be working on:
ELA/Reading-Grade 2
Ready Gen (savvasrealize.com)-We will
be working on Unit 3. We will be reviewing short vowel sounds, syllabication,
nouns, making sentences, and writing paragraphs. The children should review
when to use a capital letter and punctuation at the end of the sentence. The
children have received the vocabulary words for the stories in Unit 3, Module A.
We will be reviewing these words in class, and they should review them at home
(a few each night). See the class notebook (back of the book).
Please make sure that your child
reads for 20 minutes each night, including weekends. This is important and a
big part of their reading homework. You can
choose any book that you want, and children can read alone or read with parents.
Both ways are equally helpful. Try and ask your child questions about the story
and discuss details with them. It is important
for them to bring a book to school every day to read in school for silent
reading. It can be the same book that he/she is reading at home or a different
book. We are trying to build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
****The Edgenuity Program: The
children should be working on ELA for twenty minutes every night, including
weekends. This will help to practice for the MAP testing in May.
All homework will be assigned on Google Classroom.
Directions and due dates will be given. Please make sure that your child
completes all assignments. If there is nothing assigned in Google Classroom,
then your child should read for 20 minutes and complete 20 minutes of Edgenuity
for ELA.
******It is important to read, review phonics, and complete Edgenuity during the vacation in order to be ready for MAP testing in May.
Science Grade 2
The students will be working on Unit 3, Concept 3.1. See Google
Classroom for any HW. Notes will be posted on Google Classroom. The children
should copy them into their Science Notebook. There will be a test on Unit 3,
Concept 3.1 (Vocabulary and Notes) when we return from Easter Vacation.
