REMINDERS: 1.Remember to bring all school supplies everyday, including the homework. 2. Please check your child’s purple assignment book every night for HW and notes. 3. A new book, Harriet the Spy will be given out last week. Please make sure that your child reads for 30 mins. everyday and make notes. The notes will be started in the back of the Reading NB. There will be a test on this book on this Friday, 5/22. TESTS: 1. LANGUAGE ARTS TEST (when the copy machine gets repaired). REVIEW PP. 21-40 IN THE GRAMMAR BOOK. 2. READING TEST UNIT 2 (whenever the xerox machine gets repaired). STUDY ALL VOCABULARY FROM WHAT DID JO DO, COYOTE SCHOOL NEWS, GRACE AND THE TIME MACHINE, MARVEN OF THE GREAT NORTH WOODS, SO YOU WANT TO BE PRESIDENT. TUESDAY: May 12 AIM: To review adding endings –ed and -ing LESSON: The students will review adding the endings –ed and –ing to common verbs. The students will then complete pp. 38 in the Word Study Book HW: study for Reading Test and do pp. 39, 40 in Spelling Book. (Reading NB)
WEDNESDAY: May 13 AIM: To review main idea and details.
LESSON: The children will read a short article and try to summarize it in two sentences or less.
They will then find three details in the article that pertains to the main idea.
HW: see assignment book
THURSDAY: May 14 AIM: To identify statements as fact or opinion. LESSON: The students will write the meaning of a statement of fact and a statement of opinion in their notebooks. The children will complete pp. 86 in their Reading Practice Books.
HW: p. 87 Reading Practice Book. Write #s 1-5 and tell whether each is a fact or opinion. Do in the Reading Notebook. FRIDAY: May 15 AIM: To comprehend and analyze the information in different types of graphs. LESSON: The children will define bar graph, line graph, circle graph, and picture graph in their notebooks. The class will then answer the questions on pp.89, 90 in the Reading Practice Books LANGUAGE ARTS MONDAY, May 11 AIM: To review for the Language Arts Test LESSON: The class will review nouns for the test on Wednesday. The children will then complete review exercises in the Grammar Book to help review for the test. HW: Finish the review pp. that were started in school. The pp. can be found in the Lang. Arts NB TUESDAY, May 12 AIM: To review singular and plural possessive nouns LESSON: The children will review plural and possessive nouns HW: study for Lang. Arts Test

THURSDAY, May 14 AIM: The discuss writing a research paper LESSON: The children will discuss the steps in writing a research paper in contrast to writing a narrative. HW: see purple assignment book FRIDAY, May15 No class due to 2:30 dismissal HW: Read book and take notes (test next Friday) HAVE A GOOD WEEK!
