See the Reading Notebook for words and meanings. REMINDERS: Many children are coming to school unprepared. They are not bringing sharpened pencils, notebooks or looseleaf. Please make sure that your child is prepared for class each day, because it teaches him/her to be organized and responsible. READING: MONDAY- 10/20 Day 1- Henry and Mudge- 1.Read the shared literature story "Otis" and check how well the children listen for details(listening comprehension). 2.Review spelling words 3. Phonics- review the ending /ed/ (played, walked, started) HW- Phonics pgs. 14&15 TUESDAY- 10/21 Day 2 Henry and Mudge 1. read a poem together "Book of Friends" listen for rhyming words and also the meaning of the poem (Author's Purpose) 2. Phonics- review ending /ed/ 3. Spelling-review words 4. Introduce new vocabulary words for the story HW- Spelling- write each spelling word 3x each in Reading NB WEDNESDAY-10/22 Day 3 Henry and Mudge 1. Review vocabulary and spelling words 2. Read story together and discuss the details of the story (comprehension) 3. Discuss narrative elements- Title, Author, Illustrator, Character, Setting, Plot (problem, solution and conclusion) HW- Spelling- write a sentence for spelling words 1-8 in Reading NB. Skip a line between each sentence. THURSDAY- 10/23 Day 4 Henry and Mudge 1. Review vocabulary and spelling words 2. Answer Think and Respond questions 3. Phonics- review ending /ed/ (which when added to the end of a verb reflects past tense (Yesterday, I played with my toys.). HW- Spelling- write a sentence with spelling words 9-15 and study for Vocabulary and Spelling Tests tomorrow FRIDAY- 10/24 Spelling and Vocabulary Tests LANGUAGE ARTS MONDAY 10/20 1. Review commands and exclamations 2. discuss different describing words that can make our sentences more interesting (adjectives) TUESDAY 10/21 1.Review commands and exclamations 2.Practice adding the correct punctuation to the ending of different types of sentences. WEDNESDAY 10/22 1. Review the 4 types of sentences:Telling,Question,Command and Exclamation 2. Label different types of sentences THURSDAY 10/23 Daily Language Practice- correct 6 sentences for proper word order, capitalization and punctuation. After editing the sentences, write the sentences over correctly. FRIDAY 10/24- NO CLASS
