WEEK OF APRIL 20- 24, 2009 3RD GRADE

REMINDERS: 1.Remember to bring all school supplies everyday, including the homework. 2. Please check your child’s purple assignment book every night for HW and notes. 3. We are in great need of tissue for the classroom. Please send in a box. 4. A new book was given out on Weds. 3/25. Please make sure that your child finished the book. There will be a book test this Friday, April 24th. Notes have been started in the back of the Reading NB. 5. There will be a 12:00 dismissal Tuesday, 4/21 due to Parent Conferences and Weds., 4/22 due to a Faculty Meeting. 6. Report Cards will be distributed on Tues., 4/21. If your child does not receive his/her Report Card in school, then you need to see Mr. Badia, Ms. Saville, or myself concerning any problems. 7. Please read the April calendar carefully. 8. The Sacrament of Reconciliation for 3rd grade will take place at 10:00 in the church. on Thurs. 4/23. All parents are invited to attend. The children who are receiving the Sacrament may wear wear dress up clothes to school 9. SPELLING TEST on Friday 4/24 on the words from p. 44 in the spelling book. HW: see assignment book TUESDAY: APRIL 21 AIM: To work on the comprehension skill of sequencing. LESSON: 1. The class will do a listening comprehension activity 2. The class will answer the question of the day 3. The children will work on the comprehension skill of sequencing. 4. The children will review vocabulary and spelling words. HW: See assignment book. WEDNESDAY: APRIL 22 AIM: To read the story of Julian together LESSON: 1. The children will answer the question of the day 2. We will read the story together and discuss the Think and Respond Questions at the end of the selection. 3. We will practice the comprehension skill of following directions. 4. We will review the vocabulary and spelling words HW: See purple assignment book THURSDAY: APRIL 23 AIM: To decode and understand words prefixes LESSON: 1. We will review the vocabulary words and spelling words. 2. The children will review the spelling words for the selection 3. We will review root words and prefixes. HW: Study for Book Test and Spelling Test FRIDAY: APRIL 24 AIM: To take an Open Book Test LESSON: The children will take an Open Book Test on James and the Giant Peach and A Taste of Blackberries.
