Week of February 27, 2012

Reminders:

A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted) and pencil is not allowed.

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).

C. Starting this week, the students will be given 20 vocabulary words per week. They will have to copy the words and definitions on Monday for Homework and it will be checked on Tuesday by the Homeroom Teacher. If your child does not have internet access at home, he/she will be able to stay in the Afterschool Program on Mondays from 3:00-3:30 in order to copy the words into the Vocabulary NBs.

D. 5th grade will have Gym on Friday, instead of Monday until further notice.

E. Weds. 2/29- Hippie Day- Google how hippie’s dressed from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Best costume will win a prize.

F. Friday, 3/2 12:00 Dismissal due to a Faculty Meeting!

G. Reminder: if your child brings snack or lunch- no meat should be given on Fridays during Lent.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

Aim Higher Level F- read The Emperor’s New Clothes on pgs. 120-124.

Complete Exercise A- Questions 1-8 (only write the letter and answer) and Exercise B write a paragraph of 4-6 sentences using details from the story.

Read pages 127- 132 (Understanding Fiction)

Complete Character Analysis Questions and Plot Analysis Questions (questions and answers) on pg. 133. On Page 134 choose one of the questions and write a paragraph about your answer (at least six sentences). Follow the directions on pg. 134.  Due Friday, 3/2
