Week of January 14, 2013


Reminders:


 1. These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork:
       A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

       B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of
paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable.
   
      C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a note
           from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW.
           This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home or you were sick.

      D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted. 
           Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

2. Test Folders will be sent home this week. The students should study the Weekly Quizzes and the Unit 1 Exam for the Midterm Exams.

3. Friday, January 18 there will be a 12:00 dismissal due to a Faculty Meeting.

4. Midterm Exams will begin the week of January 21. Please make sure that your child starts reviewing vocabulary and notes now (September – January).

5th Grade Reading- 1/14/13


Homework:
We will be working in the Reading textbook and workbook for this week or until the new book arrives (Walk Two Moons).

Start reviewing the Reading Vocabulary NB and Unit 1 and Unit 2 Quizzes and Tests for the Midterm (All tests must be returned after the Midterm Exam)!

Monday- Reading Vocabulary Words must be written in the Vocabulary Notebook by Thursday, 1/17/13.
Please make sure you write a date, aim, and skip a line between each word. Underline the vocabulary word. This week’s words will not be on the Midterm Exam.

Study Outline for Reading Midterm Exam:
1. Study the Weekly Assessments and Tests from Units 1 and 2 that will be sent home this week (All tests must be returned after the Midterm Exams).

2. Study Reading Vocabulary Words in the Reading Vocabulary NB from September through last week. This week’s vocabulary words will not be included on the Midterm Exam.

3. Review the Jackie Robinson, Tom Edison, and Leonardo da Vinci books. Bring all three books the day of the Midterm Exam. No sharing books will be allowed during Midterm Exams!

3. Study the Weekly Assessments and Tests from Units 1 and 2 that will be sent home this week (All tests must be returned after the Midterm Exams).
