Week of December 2, 2013

Reminders:
1. These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork:
              
A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable.
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a not from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted

2. Monday is extended day Math for 5th Grade.

3.  Friday, 12/6 11:00 Dismissal- Faculty Meeting

4. Picture Money is due to Mrs. Resto by Friday, 12/6.

5. December calendars will be distributed today.

6. If you would like me to order your book for Unit 3 (see below), the money is due by tomorrow (Tuesday).
        
7. Unit 2 Exams will be administered the week of December 16th. Mr. Woods will post a schedule on his blog after the Interim Assessments next week.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

5th Grade Reading- The new book for Unit 3 is Who was Dr. Seuss by Janet Paschal   (Grosset and Dunlap, 2011) $ 5.50. You can purchase the book yourself, and if you need me to order it for you please send the $5.50 before Tuesday, 12/3.


Homework: Please make sure that you finished Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Monday- Review Reading Vocabulary from Unit 2- Week of October 28- November 18.

Monday- Reading Questions due on Tuesday, Dec. 3 (Check last week’s blog).

As soon as you get Dr. Seuss, start reading it.


Interim Assessments are next week, so we will be reviewing skills this week.

Unit 2 Exams will be administered the week of 12/16. Review Alice in Wonderland and all Unit 2 Reading Vocabulary!

6th Grade Reading-  The new book for Unit 3 is Escape from Saigon: How a Vietnam War Orphan Became an American Boy by Andrea Warren (Square Fish, 2008).

You can purchase the book yourself, and if you need me to order it for you please send the $11.00 before Tuesday, 12/3.

Wednesday- Read pages 92-109. Complete the Vocabulary Review 1-10 on page 111(write everything out on looseleaf).  Also, answer questions 1-6 (Chapter Checkup) Due on Monday, 12/9

*Remember Unit 2 Exams begin the week of 12/16. Start studying the Social Studies notes in your SS classwork notebook for Unit 2 (Chapters 3, 4, 5 in the textbook)!
