Week of September 8, 2014

Reminders:
These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork: 
A. All school supplies should have been in today.
B. Please return parent signature papers by Thursday, 9/11.          
C. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

D. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable).
   
E. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a not from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

F. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

G. Please cover the New York Progress book that the children brought home on Friday. A clear plastic cover is suggested.

H. The Opening School Mass is today at 9:00AM. All parents are invited.

I. Gym uniforms must be worn on Thursday for gym.

J. Please check the blog daily for updated homework assignments or notifications.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

Grade 5 will be reading Thomas A. Edison by Sue Guthridge for Unit 1.

Homework:

Monday- In the New York Progress book, read the story Like a Book pgs. 12-16. Answer questions 1,2,3 on pg.15 and on pg.17-looseleaf. Write the questions and answers. Due Wednesday, 9/10.

Wednesday- Copy the weekly vocabulary words and their definitions into the Reading Notebook. The vocabulary will be posted on the blog. Please click on the link. Remember to write the date, unit, week, and aim. You should skip a line between each word. Write in blue or black ink only. Due Friday,9/12.

Begin reading Thomas Edison as soon as you get it. Pages 11-30 should be read by next week.
