Reminders:

1. Please check Mr. Woods’ blog for information about I Ready, Achieve 3000, MAP Testing results, African American Heritage presentations, and other announcements.

2. The fifth graders need to wear gym uniforms every Wednesday.

3. Please check the blog and Google Classroom for updated homework assignments or announcements.

4. Hippie Day and Dr. Seuss’s birthday are coming up next week. Get your outfits ready!

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

READING:

For Module 3, the fifth grade is reading Promises to Keep: How Jackie Robinson Changed America by Sharon Robinson.

Please read pages 28-39 by Tuesday, February 28.

Achieve 3000 – Remember to complete any Activity and Thought question assigned during the week because they are counted as a grade!

Write all new vocabulary on index cards. Words will not be accepted if they are not in a bag!  You will need a new Ziploc bag and index cards for Module 3. Words will be collected each Monday. If they are no new vocabulary words for the week, then nothing needs to be written on index cards.

Quiz Friday, 2/24 on the Jackie Robinson book (pages read so far 1-27) and all vocabulary for Module 3. See class notebook for words and definitions.

5th Grade Vocabulary for Module 3

Please copy any missing words into your Reading Notebook and write them on index cards. If you have any questions, please ask me.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Tuesday: Study the notes from Module 3 (The Spanish Colonies and the Virginia Colony, 1-31) for the Social Studies Quiz this Thursday. Also, know the difference between enslaved workers and indentured servants. Be able to describe each.

Read Chapters 4 and 5 by Tuesday, February 28.
