Week of March 17, 2014

Reminders:
1. These are a few reminders concerning homework and classwork:
              
A. All work must be completed in blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted).  

B. If the assignment states that looseleaf is to be used, no other types of paper will be accepted (paper ripped out of notebooks or legal pads is unacceptable.
   
C. Homework must be handed in on the day due, unless I receive a not from a parent explaining why you did not complete your HW. This will only be accepted if there is an emergency at home (not because you were too tired or that you had too much other HW). 

D. Homework and classwork must be neat. Work that is sloppy or illegible will not be accepted.

E. Gym for Grade 5 is on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.

F. Friday, 3/21 11:00 Dismissal due to a Teachers’ Workshop.

G. All students may wear green tomorrow, March 17th for St. Patrick’s Day.

Remember that homework and classwork count as a grade!

HOMEWORK: For the Week of March 17- Unit 5 Week 2

5th Grade Reading- The children will be reading Bull Run by Paul Fleischman for Unit 5.

Homework:

Monday- Read up to pg.25 by Friday

Tuesday- Reading Vocabulary due by Thursday (if you did not do it the other day)

Wednesday- Questions due by Monday


Unit 5 Project (Civil War or Mexican Civil War) will be due on Monday, March 24. If you need help, please see me.

6th Grade Reading- The children will be reading The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin for Unit 5.



Homework:

Monday- Read Chapters 1-6 by Friday

Tuesday- Reading Vocabulary due by Thursday

Wednesday- Questions due by Monday


Unit 5 Project will be due on Monday, March 24. (Mystery story or biography of an author that writes Mysteries. If you need help, please see me.

7th Grade Reading- The children will be reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle for Unit 5.



Homework:

Monday- Read Chapters 1-3 by Friday

Tuesday- Reading Vocabulary due by Thursday

Wednesday- Questions due by Monday




7th Grade Social Studies


Homework:  A Government for the New Nation (1771-1791)

Monday- Map of the Month due tomorrow. No extensions!

Tuesday- Social Studies Vocabulary due by Wednesday

Wednesday- Copy the diagram of the separation of powers on page 232 in your textbook. It should be written and then colored (each branch a different color). Then answer questions 1-8. This should be done on looseleaf and is due on Thursday. Points will be deducted off for sloppy work!
