WEEK OF JANUARY 5th, 2009 3RD GRADE
REMINDERS:
1. Please make sure that your child received a new purple HW Assignment Book, a January calendar, and a letter explaining the IRIS a rapid response communication system.
2. I am asking that each child bring another box of Kleenex. All of the tissues collected at the beginning of the school year have been used and we need more. It is important that everyone brings a box so that we have enough for the rest of the school year.
3. There will be an 11:30 dismissal on Friday.
4. Check the school blog for the schedule of Midterm Exams and the materials to review for each exam.

Monday, Jan. 5, 2009
Aim: to review the vocabulary words for the Midterm Exam
Objective: The students will review pgs. in the Reading Practice Book dealing with vocabulary,
phonics, and comprehension skills.
HW: Complete any unfinished pages in the Spelling Book up to pg. 26
Tuesday, Jan. 6,2009
Aim: to review material for Midterm Exam
Objective: The children will review vocabulary words and comprehension skills (author's
purpose, main idea, and sequencing) .
HW: review material on blog for Reading and Language Arts Midterm

Objective: The children will review material from the five stories on the Reading Midterm.

Aim: to review sentences and end punctuation
Objective: The children will be able to differentiate between the different types of sentences
and add the correct ending punctuation mark.

Aim: to review the Reading Practice Book to reinforce vocabulary, phonic, and comprehension
skills.
Objective: The children will define all words on the word wall and know the difference between
fiction and nonfiction.
HW: review Language Handbook pgs. 79-99
Weds., Jan. 7, 2009
Aim: to review spelling words on pg. 27
Objective: The children will complete pgs. 27-29 in Spelling Book.
They will also review and write all words on pg.27

Aim: to review the correct form when writing a paragraph.
Objective: The children will make a graphic organizer to think of a topic and ideas for writing
a paragraph. They will then put a paragraph together.
