WEEK OF SEPT. 21, 2009 GRADE 2 READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

REMINDERS:
1. Please remember to cover all soft-covered books.
2. Remember to read the purple assignment book and check the HW folder each night to know your child's homework for each day.
3. Your child needs to remember to bring all of their school supplies every day.

TESTS:
1. Vocabulary Test Friday 9/25 on the 15 words in the Vocabulary Notebook. These words will be chosen by all Ms. Saville, Mr. Badia, and I. You must check each teacher's blog to see the words that will be given each week.
2. Spelling Test- Friday 9/25 on the words below.


VOCABULARY WORDS: definitions will be in the Vocabulary NB- Test on Friday.

READING VOCABULARY WORDS FROM THE MIXED UP CHAMELEON: (definitions are in the Reading NB)
dull, exciting, handsome, hardly, sideways, sparkling, spotted

High Frequency Words: the students only need to know how to read these words. They do not need to know how to define them.
big, brown, eat, no people

SPELLING WORDS: Test on Friday 9/25. The children will need to know how to spell and write the words in a sentence. See Reading Notebook.

HOMEWORK:
MONDAY: Write each spelling word 5x each in the Reading NB
TUESDAY:  Write a sentence for Spelling Words 1-8 and underline each spelling word in the sentence. Please do this in the Reading NB.
WEDNESDAY: Write a sentence for Spelling Words 9-15 and underline each spelling word in the sentence. Please do this in the Reading NB.
THURSDAY: Study the fifteen vocabulary words  (see Vocabulary NB) and the Spelling Words for test tomorrow.For Lang. Arts- do p. 79 #s 5, 6,7,8,. Write the four sentences over correctly in the Lang. Arts NB.

FRIDAY: Read for at least 30 minutes during the weekend.
