TESTS: Language Arts Test Tues. 2/24 on nouns (was not given on Friday due to a change in schedule). Spelling Test Friday 2/27. Words are on p.36 in the Spelling Book Book Test on Anansi the Spider or Stone Soup Friday 2/27 VOCABULARY: Hedgehog Bakes a Cake batter, buttery, perfect, recipe, smeared, yellow cake HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS: bit, cake, open, smell, thank SPELLING: four, poured, your, course, fourteen, mourn, source, fourth, resource, Dr., St., smell, thank, open READING MONDAY: FEB. 2/23 AIM: To use knowledge of spelling patterns when reading; to listen carefully to details when read a story (listening comprehension). LESSON: 1. The children will listen to the story of The Little Red Hen and will be able to recall details. 2. The r-controlled vowel in the word /our/ can also sound like /or/ as in the word /four/. 3. The new spelling words on p. 36 will be reviewed. HW: Write each spelling word 5x each in Reading NB TUESDAY: FEB. 2/24 AIM: To decode regular multisyllable words LESSON: 1. The children will do a listening comprehension activity. 2. The children will review the sound of /or/ when reading 3. Spelling patterns will be reviewed when reading. HW: See purple assignment book WEDNESDAY: FEB. 2/25 NO CLASS DUE TO MASS HW: Write a sentence for words 1-8 on p. 36 in the spelling book. Do in Reading NB THURSDAY: FEB.2/26 (no class due to class being split up) AIM: To review r- controlled vowels and comprehensions skills. LESSON: Pages from the Phonics and Reading Practice Book will be completed by each student individually. HW: Write a sentence for words 9-15 in Reading NB. Study for spelling test and book test (Anansi the Spider or Stone Soup). Bring your book with you to school. FRIDAY: FEB.2/27 AIM: to complete a Spelling Test and Open Book Test LESSON: 1. Spelling Test 2. Book Test HW: read for at least 30 minutes. LANGUAGE ARTS MONDAY, FEB.23 AIM: to review nouns LESSON: The children will review names of people pp.103-105 in Language Arts Handbook. HW: study for test tomorrow TUESDAY, FEB.24 AIM: To take a test on nouns LESSON: The children will complete a test on nouns HW: p.104 1-10 in the Lang Arts NB WEDNESDAY, FEB.25 AIM: To review the names of people and titles. LESSON: The children will discuss names of people or people's titles in terms of capitalization and punctuation rules. HW: none THURSDAY, FEB. 26 no class due to the 2nd grade being split up. AIM: To review nouns LESSON: The children will review nouns and complete pgs. independently in the Language Arts NB. HW: check assignment book FRIDAY, FEB. 27 AIM: To finish the Book Test from this morning. LESSON: The children will finish taking their book test. HW: review this week’s work HAVE A GOOD WEEK!!!!
