The class will reread Wild Shots for fluency. 2. Homophones, multiple meaning, synonyms and antonyms will be reviewed 3. Figurative language will be discussed HW: see purple assignment book TUESDAY: FEB. 2/24 AIM: To use knowledge of word relationships to determine or clarify word meaning LESSON: 1.The children will do a listening comprehension activity. 2. The class will answer and discuss the Question of the Day 3. We will discuss and use self-questioning strategies while reading to help us to understand important ideas. 4. The class will review and write new vocabulary in their Reading NBs. HW: Phonics- complete the pgs. assigned today for class work that was not finished WEDNESDAY: FEB. 2/25 AIM: To use syllable patterns to read unfamiliar words; to use story clues, characters’ traits, and prior knowledge to make predictions. LESSON: 1. The children will answer and discuss the question of the day/ 2. We will the story of Little Grunt together and discuss 3. Syllabication rules will be discusses and written in Reading NB 4. The vocabulary will be reviewed HW: see assignment book THURSDAY: FEB.2/26 AIM: To use context to determine the meanings of multiple meaning words. LESSON: 1. The children will answer the Question of the Day 2. Spelling Words will be introduced 3. Vocabulary Words will be reviewed and discussed. 4. The children will review word relationships – homophones, homographs, and multiple meaning words, synonyms, antonyms, similar meaning words, and classification of words. HW: Review for open book test tomorrow- bring book and notes FRIDAY: FEB.2/27 AIM: to complete an Open Book Test LESSON: 1. Book Test HW: read for at least 30 minutes. LANGUAGE ARTS MONDAY, FEB.23 AIM: to review abbreviations. LESSON: The class will discuss abbreviations and write examples in the Language Arts NB HW: Lang. Arts Book p.112 1-15 in Lang. Arts NB TUESDAY, FEB.24 AIM: To review the sounds of final blends in words LESSON: The children complete pages in the Phonics Book to review final consonant clusters in words and also the sounf of soft /g/ and /c/ HW: finish phonics WEDNESDAY, FEB.25 AIM: To learn to write a “How-to Essay” (expository writing) LESSON: The children will write the format for a how-to essay HW: check purple assignment book THURSDAY, FEB. 26 No class due to computer class FRIDAY, FEB. 27 AIM: To use graphic organizers to set up how- to essay LESSON: The children will use graphic organizers to organize their materials HW: review this week’s work HAVE A GOOD WEEK!!!!
