REMINDERS:
1.Remember to bring all school supplies everyday, including the homework.
2.Please check your child’s purple assignment book every night for HW and notes.
3.Please sign and return the tests handed out by Mr. Woods on Tuesday, 3/24
4.A new book will be given to the children to read on Weds. 3/25. Please make sure that they read for 30 mins. every day and make notes. The notes will be started in the back of the Reading NB.

MONDAY: March 23
AIM: To build new vocabulary by finding words related to the lesson concept.
LESSON: 1. The students will respond to a Listening Comprehension Activity.
2. We will work on vocabulary building using a vocabulary word web
3. Lastly, we will identify statements of fact and opinion.
HW: Write each spelling word on p. 33 5x each in Reading NB; study for Book Test tomorrow.
TUESDAY: March 24
AIM: To take an open book test on the Grand Escape
LESSON: The children will take an open book test on the Grand Escape
HW: Write a sentence for words 1-13 on p. 33 in Spelling Book. Please do in Reading NB and underline each spelling word.
WEDNESDAY: March 25
AIM: To use a dictionary or glossary to determine word meaning
LESSON: 1. The children will answer the question of the day.
2. The children will use the dictionary /glossary to look up the meanings of new words.
3. The class will read the story of Marven of the Great North Woods together.
4. The class will discuss the main idea of the story and also review fact and opinion.
HW: Write a sentence for words 14-25 in Reading NB. The words are on the blog, in the notebook, and on p. 33 of the Spelling Book.
THURSDAY: March 26
AIM: To review comprehension skills- main idea and recalling details
LESSON: 1. The children will answer the question of the day.
2. The children will discuss and complete the reader response questions on p. 233 in text.
3. We will complete pp. 33, 34 in the Spelling Book – reviewing ending sounds- ng, nk, ph, wh
HW: Complete pp. 35, 36 in Spelling Book on looseleaf. Study for Spelling Test.
FRIDAY: March 27
AIM: To take a spelling test
LESSON: 1. The children will take a spelling test on the words from p. 33 in the Spelling Book.
2. We will review the vocabulary words for the story.
3. We will review consonant blends (ng, nk) and consonant digraphs (ph, wh)
HW: Start reading the new books and make notes.
LANGUAGE ARTS
MONDAY, March 23
No class due to practice for Spring Show.
TUESDAY, March 24
AIM: To introduce the new vocabulary for Marven of the Great North Woods
LESSON: 1.The students will review new vocabulary words and write in their Reading NB.
2. We will make a Venn Diagram to describe similarities and differences of Lumbering in the Past and Lumbering Today.
HW: check purple assignment book
WEDNESDAY, March 25
AIM: To review terms used to name parts of an advertisement.
LESSON: 1.The students will work on pp. 79, 80 in their NYS Practice Book dealing with advertisements.
