WEEK OF MARCH 30- APRIL 3, 2009 3RD GRADE

REMINDERS: 1.Remember to bring all school supplies everyday, including the homework. 2. Please check your child’s purple assignment book every night for HW and notes. 3. Our Spring Show is tonight, Mon., 3/30 at 5:00 PM. The children should be here in the classroom by 4:15. Boy and girl singers can either wear a navy blue, white, or pink polo shirt, rather than just pink. The pants must be khaki. Any shoes are fine. The shirt should have short sleeves. The other children received a letter describing what they need to wear. Tickets for the show can be purchased from Mrs. Resto or Mrs. Velez in the Tuition Room. 4. We are in great need of tissue for the classroom. Please send in a box. 5. Please send in a large shopping bag by Weds., so the children can pack their books in their desks. 6. A new book was given out on Weds. 3/25. Please make sure that your child read sit over the Easter Vacation. There will be a book test on Friday, April 24th. Notes have been started in the back of the Reading NB. 7. There will be an 11:30 dismissal today due to the show. 8. Friday, 4/3 there is a 2:30 dismissal and beginning of the Easter break. 9. Friday, 4/3 We will have a small Easter Party. The children can bring snacks (cookies, candy, donuts, and cupcakes…NO CAKE) to share, but they must bring their own drink. No big bottles of soda. They can dress up that day- no play clothes because we will be going to church. Every child should bring something only for themselves to drink! LESSON: 1. The class will do a listening comprehension activity 2. The class will answer the question of the day 3. The children will work on the comprehension skill of sequencing. HW: See assignment book. WEDNESDAY: APRIL 1 AIM: To read the story of Julian together LESSON:1. The children will answer the question of the day 2. We will read the story together and discuss the Think and Respond Questions at the end of the selection. 3. We will practice the comprehension skill of following directions. HW: See purple assignment book THURSDAY: APRIL 2 AIM: To decode and understand words with prefixes un- and re- LESSON: 1. We will review the vocabulary words. 2. The children will review the spelling words for the selection 3. We will review root words and prefixes. HW: See assignment book FRIDAY: APRIL 3 AIM: To write a story about spring. LESSON: The children will use a graphic organizer to plan writing a story about spring. HW: Read new book and making notes. Notes were started in the back of the Reading NB. Review vocabulary and spelling words. HW: check purple assignment book THURSDAY, APRIL 2 No LA class due to computer class FRIDAY, APRIL 3 EASTER PARTY- NO CLASS HW: Review types of sentences, capitalization, punctuation, subject/predicates, nouns, abbreviations, and pronoun.
